Admission: 3 – 5$, sliding scale. FRIDAY : Boykoff will be speaking from his book Beyond Bullets, a study of the suppression of dissent in democratic societies by means other than physical violence. SATURDAY : Boykoff and Sand will each be reading from their poetry.
JULES BOYKOFF teaches political science at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. His research and writing appears in scholarly journals such as New Political Science, Global Environmental Change, and Journal of Politics, and popular publications like CommonDreams.org, Extra!, and NACLA: Report on the Americas. He is author of the poetry collection Once Upon a Neoliberal Rocket Badge and of the critical study Beyond Bullets.
KAIA SAND is the author of interval (Edge 2004), as well as several projects through Dusie Press, including the wee book lotto and the dusie kollektiv chapbook heart on a tripod. Her book Landscapes of Dissent: Guerrilla Poetry and Public Space, co-authored with Jules Boykoff, is forthcoming with Palm Press. She co-edits the Tangent Press, and co-curates the Tangent Reading series. She lives in Portland Oregon.
