Lorenzo Casali, torna a Senzatitolo dopo “Albedo” la sua prima personale del 2006. Propone, in un nuovo allestimento, fotografie, sculture e video degli interni di abitazioni nel distretto popolare di «Crooswijk» a Rotterdam, demolito per permettere l’edificazione di un complesso residenziale di lusso Come ha sottolineato lo storico dell’architettura Herman van Bergeijk nel testo presente in catalogo, l’autore “non si sofferma sugli aspetti brutali della distruzione o sulla condizione instabile di ciò che di lì a poco non esisterà più. No, Casali sublima ciò che resta delle abitazioni e i piccoli segni delle esistenze che hanno preso altre direzioni. Attraverso la luce ma soprattutto attraverso un raffinato processo di montaggio, viene protratta la vita di “cose insignificanti”.
Lorenzo Casali is back at Senzatitolo, after his first solo exhibition “Albedo” in 2006. BLANK is an installation made of photographs, sculptures and video concerning interiors of buildings in «Crooswijk» tre distriict of Rotterdam largely demolished to make room for appealing and luxurious new apartments and houses. As the architectural historian Herman van Bergeijk noticed about Casali’s work “He visualizes not so much the brutal force of destruction, or the intermediary state of something that within little time will not be anymore. No, he sublimates the remains of the containers and small signs of existences that have long gone in other directions. Through light, but above all through a delicate process of mounting, the life of the ‘things without purpose’ is extended.

Lorenzo Casali è nato a Tradate nel 1980. Vive e lavora tra Rotterdam e Saronno. Ha esposto recentemente all’Historisch Museum e al Berlage Institut di Rotterdam. Alcuni suoi lavori sono stati acquisiti dalla Fondazione Fotografia di Modena.

Lorenzo Casali was born in Tradate (Varese) in 1980. He lives and works between Rotterdam (NL) and Saronno (IT). He recently exhibited at Historisch Meseum and at Berlage Institut in Rotterdam. Fondazione Fotografia in Modena acquired some Casali’s work for its collection.
