Poems I Will Never Release, 2007–2017
In these uncertain times, the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève is pleased to offer a virtual alternative to explore the exhibition Poems I Will Never Release, 2007–2017, the first retrospective dedicated to Italian artist Chiara Fumai (Rome, 1978 – Bari, 2017).
The exhibition originally meant to inaugurate earlier in November has finally opened to the public on November 28, 2020. Due to the inevitable impact of the pandemic on accessibility, the Centre wishes to make Chiara Fumai’s exhibition as widely visible as possible so that those unable to travel could discover her work.
The exhibition, curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi and Milovan Farronato in collaboration with Andrea Bellini, will be presented until February 28, 2021 at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève.
Poems I Will Never Release is now accessible through a 360° reconstitution of the Centre, punctuated with informative texts and videos in relation to the work of Chiara Fumai.
To complement your virtual tour, we invite you to watch our introduction video: Chiara Fumai or a glossary of Women. Directed and narrated by Sofia Kouloukouri (artist and mediator at the Centre), this video dives into the feminine figures who marked history and inspired Chiara Fumai. Despite their strength and anger, these women have been either marginalized or forgotten. Among many others, the bearded woman Annie Jones, the “Circassian beauty” Zalumma Agra, the German terrorist Ulrike Meinhof, the illiterate medium Eusapia Palladino, or the feminist writer Carla Lonzi – all are present in the work of Fumai.

The Centre d’Art Contemporain is open!
The exhibition, curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi and Milovan Farronato in collaboration with Andrea Bellini, is also open to visitors until February 28, 2021 at the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève.
For those able discover the exhibition in person, a series of sanitary measures has been put in place to offer the safest and most pleasant visit possible.
In addition, to raise awareness and promote access to culture, the exhibition has been extended until February 28 with free entrance.

Durant cette période incertaine, le Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève est heureux d’offrir une alternative virtuelle afin de pouvoir explorer l’exposition Poems I Will Never Release (« Ces poèmes que jamais je ne publierai »), la première rétrospective dédiée à l’artiste italienne Chiara Fumai (Rome, 1978 – Bari, 2017).
L’exposition, qui aurait dû être vernie début novembre, a pu finalement ouvrir ses portes le 28 novembre dernier. L’impact de la pandémie en terme d’accessibilité est toutefois inévitable.
Le Centre souhaite donc garantir une visibilité aussi large que possible pour cette exposition majeure, afin de permettre à celles et ceux qui ne pourraient pas se déplacer, d’avoir un accès sous forme digitale et ainsi découvrir l’œuvre de Chiara Fumai.
Vous pouvez donc dès à présent visiter Poems I Will Never Release grâce à une reconstitution 360° du Centre, ponctuée de textes informatifs et vidéos liées au travail de Chiara Fumai.
En complément à la visite de l’exposition, nous vous invitons aussi à regarder la vidéo d’introduction Chiara Fumai ou un abécédaire de femmes. Réalisé et narré par Sofia Kouloukouri (artiste et médiatrice au Centre), le film plonge au cœur des figures féminines qui ont marqué l’histoire et inspiré Chiara Fumai. Malgré leur force et leur colère, ces femmes ont été marginalisées ou oubliées. Parmi ces inspirations on compte la femme à barbe Annie Jones, la beauté circassienne Zalumma Agra, la terroriste allemande Ulrike mienhof, la medium illettrée Eusapia Palladino ou encore l’écrivaine Carla Lonzi.
Le Centre d’Art Contemporain est ouvert !
L’exposition, proposée par Francesco Urbano Ragazzi et Milovan Farronato en collaboration avec Andrea Bellini, est aussi visible jusqu’au 28 février 2021 au Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève.
En effet, pour celles et ceux qui ont la possibilité de venir voir l’exposition en personne, une série de mesures sanitaires ont été mises en place afin d’assurer une visite aussi agréable et sûre que possible.
De plus, dans une optique de sensibilisation et d’accès à la culture pour tou·te·s, l’accès à l’exposition est gratuit et celle-ci a été prolongée jusqu’au 28 février.
