Just eight days after Nirvana released their debut studio album “Bleach,” the band played an in-store performance at Rhino Records in Westwood, Los Angeles. June 23, 1989. Here is a clip of “Blew,” the first song on the record and the 11th and final song of their set that day. At the time, Nirvana’s lineup was Kurt Cobain on guitar and vocals, Krist Novoselic on bass guitar, Chad Channing on drums, and Jason Everman on guitar. I wonder what those who walked through the shop doors at 1720 Westwood Blvd thought about what they saw that day, and if they could have imagined what this band would become as the 80s gave way to the 90s.
