how did you come to poetry? how did you come to visual poetry?

I remember a little about how I came to poetry; at the age of sixteen, I had funny ideas like poetry was to find out and underline what anybody saw but didn’t talk about and so on. At the same time I always had unbelief to express things by telling or preferred not telling anything by using language as a reaction. Fortunately I have learnt to be hopeful. The ways of not-telling are various. By reading and writing we create lots of problems and I’m not sure about whether they have meanings in real life or not.

Un nuovo ebook su GAMMM: “Ruelle de lit”, di Éric Houser

 

ruelleSu GAMMM è appena uscito un nuovo ebook: Tra letto e muro [Ruelle de lit], testo inedito di Éric Houser. Il file pdf [80 Kb] è scaricabile dalla pagina gammm/ebook.

Éric Houser (1956) ha pubblicato “Encore vous”, précédé de “Auto-di-Dax” (Les Petits matins, Parigi, 2006), (le couteau) (contrat maint, Marsiglia, 2005), somatic limit (Little Single Éric Suchère, Parigi, 2003), Un composte (Éditions de l’Attente, Bordeaux, 2002). Progetti: una mostra di mail plastificate (testi e foto) insieme a Dominique de Liège (con pubblicazione a seguire); una «missione Stendhal» (a Roma); un’enciclopedia della parola presso i Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers (con Jérôme Mauche); la traduzione di un testo di Keith Waldrop (Sémiramis if I remember, in parte di prossima pubblicazione presso la rivista «Vacarme»). Autori francesi, da “Anterem”

Questo è un nuovo invito alla lettura. Proponiamo i testi di tre autori francesi: Claude Ollier, Maurice Roche, Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe. Sono tratti dal n. 63 della rivista “Anterem”. A questi molti altri seguiranno. Secondo un piano di pubblicazione molto particolare.

Intendiamo infatti presentare in una nuova struttura – articolata per aree linguistiche – le poesie pubblicate nel corso degli anni sulla rivista e lì ordinate per tematica. Così facendo desideriamo facilitare la consultazione del materiale pubblicato e favorire nel contempo nuove ipotesi comparative tra i testi poetici.

Seguendo una prassi consolidata nella nostra rivista, i testi stranieri saranno sempre presentati in lingua originale con traduzione a fronte e saranno accompagnati da brevi profili biografici degli autori.

Linh Dinh is one of the most consistently surprising writers around. One can find sources & roots for his writing, explain the traces of surrealism through the presence, say, of the French in Vietnam (tho they were driven out a decade before he was born), note that he is hardly the only good or successful Vietnamese American poet, let alone the only poet to come from a working class background, yet he is not writing “about” or even “toward” nor “from” any one of these contexts so much as he is through them – they are lenses, filters, that condition his perspective on everyday life. Imagine what any other poet with this strong a sense of form would have had to become in order to write such poetry. Ted Berrigan, for example. Berrigan shares Linh’s class background, which enables him to be as ruthless in a different way as Linh is in his. But the comparison stops there. Linh is writing straightforward poetry, but from a perspective shared by almost no one else. This kind of exile is far deeper than mere geography. Reading Borderless Bodies, you can feel Linh’s deep loneliness on every page & realize that there are aspects of his poetry that you can’t find anywhere else. We probably haven’t had a writer this singular since the death of William Burroughs.

Linh Dinh is the author of two collections of stories, Fake House (2000) and Blood and Soap (2004), and three previous books of poems,  All Around What Empties Out (2003), American Tatts (2005) and Borderless Bodies (2006). His work has been anthologized in Best American Poetry 2000, Best American Poetry 2004, and Great American Prose Poems from Poe to the Present (2003). and Three Vietnamese Poets (2001). He is also the editor of Night, Again: Contemporary Fiction from Vietnam (1996) and Three Vietnamese Poets (2001).

the wees!!! THE WEES !!!

Già da qualche settimana sono usciti tre piccoli chapook [di] italiani, a cura di Susana Gardner e del sito Dusie. I testi rientrano nel progetto wee chap avviato lo scorso anno.

Si tratta di tracce (per Dusie, 103-197), di Gherardo Bortolotti, InversiOn, di Massimo Sannelli, e di DETECT, di Marco Giovenale.

tracce è interamente in italiano; InversiOn è la traduzione inglese, curata da Chiara Daino, di poesie italiane; mentre DETECT è una coppia di ‘sought prose pieces’ inglesi di MG, accompagnate dalla traduzione italiana curata da Alessia Folcio e Gherardo Bortolotti.

Ogni libretto, perfettamente rilegato, misura circa cm 10×10, ed è realizzato artigianalmente con copertine sempre diverse, a cura di Susana Gardner.

“Adagio ma non troppo”, by Ryoko Sekiguchi

adagio ma non troppoAdagio ma non troppo s’inspire du livre de Fernando Pessoa, Lettres à la fiancée, pour en écrire un autre. Ce projet part d’une stratégie: celui du plan que traça un jour Pessoa pour déterminer «le parcours le plus long» possible pour accompagner sa fiancée Ophélia, du «bureau à la maison». Aussi pour que cet accompagnement se renouvelle tous les jours, il fallait trouver une destination et un point de départ pour le lendemain. Livre sur le rendez-vous mais aussi histoire d’amour.

Ryoko Sekiguchi vit depuis plusieurs années à Paris où elle est traductrice; elle se consacre également à l’écriture. Elle a publié, entre autres, en France, aux éditions P.O.L.: Calque (2001), Deux marchés, de nouveau (2005), Héliotropes, (2005), et en collaboration avec différents artistes et écrivains, elle a participé aux catalogues suivants: Indication du chemin de fer par la fille 1 et la fille 2, avec Rainier Lericolais, édité par le 19, Centre régional d’art contemporain, Montbeliard, 2003 et Le monde est rond, avec Suzanne Doppelt et Marc Charpin, 2004.
