glitch and outstitution
Differx has not disappeared. On the contrary, it wants to go on trying to study and use the margins and the ever-expanding core of the glitch(ed) art, literature, language, sound; and make the pathologies of the Western logos grow. This is the reason why it launches the trans-cultural word “OUTSTITUTION”: to focus on what this will (maybe) mean.
Let’s wiki: the word “institution” comes from Middle English “institucioun”, from Old French “institution”, from Latin “institūtiō”, from “instituō” (“to set up”), from “in-” (“in, on”) + “statuō” (“to set up, establish”). So my intent —and the aim of differx as a site— is clear:
OUT OF THE INSTITUTION.
Any kind of cultural, literary, artistic initiative is constantly under the control of the authorities through bureaucracy. Any meeting, independent structure, event, must necessarily interact with the corruption and the surrounding wall of the “city”. Perhaps the word corruption is not right. In cities like Rome the dark side of the Middle Ages has never been affected by anything. It never ended. The families who actually own the territory also rule the game. It seems a bad & kitsch distopian conspiracy remark but the sad truth is that —at least in Rome— the nobles and the high clergy are still the backbone of power today, with la haute et la grossière bourgeoisie.
So a policy of temporary autonomous zones is still the only way to play outside the chessboard. (Which hosts only kings and queens).
Ideas for and in and outside Rome are welcome.

Un incontro con l’artista per raccontare la genesi e i processi creativi alla base dei suoi lavori realizzati per la mostra Io, Villa Adriana.
L’incontro è un’occasione per riflettere su quanto il dialogo tra la creatività contemporanea e il patrimonio artistico di epoche remote possa essere non solo possibile ma fecondo. Io, Villa Adriana non si limita infatti ad accostare gli spazi e la missione del MAXXI alla scenografia di un sito archeologico tra i più celebri e suggestivi delle vestigia imperiali ma crea un’influenza reciproca e stabilisce un rimescolamento dei materiali e dei segni, per cui perfino gli attuali agenti atmosferici o le polveri delle opere di duemila anni fa incidono direttamente nella rilettura e nella pittura offerta da Vitone di complesse identità e tradizioni antiche.
Le tele presentate al MAXXI fanno parte di una serie che l’artista inizia nel 2005 segnando un’evoluzione importante nel suo lavoro, che per la prima volta fa i conti con l’universo della pittura e, in particolare, con il concetto di monocromo. Questo nuovo capitolo della serie, realizzato per le sedi del MAXXI e di Villa Adriana Adriana a Tivoli, arricchisce e approfondisce un itinerario al tempo stesso immaginario e reale, che ha visto numerose tappe, tra le quali Roma, Sharjah, Berlino, Catania, Firenze, la Liguria, Bruxelles.
