Nail Chiodo on Carlo Bordini:

Within the modernist poetic tradition – that in which poets give up attending to prosody and more or less commit to print what first comes in their head(s) – the work of Carlo Bordini represents, as far as I know, a unicum of sorts by virtue of its systematic, often plodding but always consequential nature. Having followed his poetic development over the years, from Pericolo through Mangiare to his collected poems, I costruttori di vulcani – which are just that, the result of lifelong scrupulous sifting – I can say that, in the end, it is the systematic, coherently humanistic quality of his investigative/imaginative procedure that for me obtains. Should I ever fear of entirely losing track of my own thoughts, I know that I can always freighthop on Carlo’s wagon and that he will take me on a slow, reassuringly long ride till I get my senses back.

All’interno della tradizione poetica modernista – quella in cui i poeti rinunciano a prestare attenzione alla prosodia e mettono alla stampa più o meno la prima cosa che viene loro in mente – l’opera di Carlo Bordini rappresenta, per quel che conosco, una sorta di unicum in virtù della sua natura sistematica, spesso faticosa ma sempre consequenziale. Avendo seguito il suo sviluppo poetico attraverso gli anni, da Pericolo, attraverso Mangiare fino alla sua raccolta I costruttori di vulcani – che sono proprio questo, il risultato di uno scrupoloso setacciare durato tutta una vita – posso dire che, alla fin fine, è la qualità sistematica, coerentemente umanistica del suo procedere investigativo/immaginativo quella che per me prevale. Se un giorno temessi di uscire completamente dai binari del mio pensiero, so che potrei sempre aggrapparmi al vagone merci di Carlo, che mi porterebbe in un lento, rassicurante, lungo percorso fino a ritrovare nuovamente i miei sensi.

È uscito il numero 48-49 (2013) di “Semicerchio. Rivista di poesia comparata”, la cui parte monografica, che occupa 215 pagine del volume in formato grande (seguita da recensioni di poesia italiana, lituana, angloamericana, riviste e saggi), è dedicata al tema del Lavoro. Comprende contributi teorici e antologie critiche di testi poetici inediti  o mai tradotti in italiano, con la partecipazione di autori di tutto il mondo: Francia e paesi francofoni, Germania, Gran Bretagna, Repubblica Ceca, paesi ispanofoni, Italia, USA, Cina, con interventi sulla poesia dei migranti e sulla canzone.

Its monographic section, which runs to 215 large-format pages (followed by reviews of Italian, Lithuanian and Anglo-American poetry, literary journals and essays), is dedicated to poetry about work. It offers theoretical contributions and critical anthologies of poetical texts, including authors from France and French-speaking countries, Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, Spanish-speaking countries, Italy, the USA and China; it also includes articles on migrants poets and songwriters.
