In the plastic field, Lettrism is based on the merging of image and word. The plastic use of the letter or sign would not signify anything other than itself, thus transcending traditional conventions of meaning by emphasising the form of the letter over representation. Isou conceived Lettrism as fundamentally different from movements that preceded it, representing a complete shift from figuration and abstraction to the plastic use of the symbol of letters or signs. While Isou acknowledged that some artists associated with the Bauhaus and Cubism, and artists such as Marcel Duchamp, approached qualities of Lettrism, Isou declared that these artists ultimately faltered by subjecting letters to function and burdening them with meaning, rather than granting them independence and allowing them to become pure form.

It’s time to replace all the men in your old books with a Humanizer print

This is a new project available for humans in 2020 – an edition of 220 hand cut and perforated prints

Each print contains 900 1/4” “human” tabs to replace the “men” in your old books

All humans are connected and human contact is essential

The Humanizer print is an edition of 220 hand-cut and perforated prints that address the need to update the gender bias found in many of our printed books. The word “human” is printed and perforated in a grid to create 900 ¼” tabs. These tabs can be pulled off and glued into an old book to replace references to “man” or “men” with “human”. The Humanizer print works as a conceptual suggestion or concrete poem, but also as a functional object that could actually be used as suggested. The edition of 220 prints allows for a more inclusive perspective in our historic documents while also addressing concerns about the art market and our current economy. The accessibility of these prints flattens the hierarchy of art collecting, allowing more people the opportunity to acquire art and satisfy our human need to be conceptually and physically connected.

La Fondazione Baruchello ricorda il Talk online – Prove di R(i)esistenza che si terrà giovedì 22 ottobre alle ore 16.00 sulla piattaforma Zoom.
Durante l’incontro, aperto da Carla Subrizi, Presidente della Fondazione Baruchello, storica dell’arte e docente presso l’università di Roma La Sapienza, la curatrice della mostra Ilaria Conti presenterà il progetto espositivo e le opere degli artisti invitati, che da anni lavorano su strategie in grado di generare un ripensamento collettivo ed orizzontale di nozioni chiave del nostro tempo quali il corpo, il lavoro, la tecnologia, l’ecologia.

mi si dice che la scrittura di ricerca non esiste: usano un’espressione diversa, che mi è abbastanza estranea, usano “poesia di ricerca”, per poi immediatamente affrettarsi ad aggiungere che “tutta” la poesia, se è poesia, è di ricerca.
e in effetti devo dire che la ricerca è un po’ ovunque, nel nostro quotidiano.
